Multimedia tour guide
Advice and studies on developing the Musée de l’Armée’s multimedia tour guide service
The Musée de l’Armée features one of the largest art and military history collections, ranging from the 18th century to 1945. The Les Invalides site is also home to the Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération, the Historial Charles de Gaulle and the Dôme. It welcomes an average of 1.2 million visitors annually.
For several years now, the Musée de l'Armée has invested in multimedia tools and has offered its visitors a rich and innovative audiovisual mediation experience: the official “Musée de l’Armée” app, the multimedia audio guide, the “Dôme interactive” app, the Historial Charles de Gaulle audio system, and 170 multimedia devices scattered throughout the collections.
The museum is seeking to improve on the success of this digital offering and coordinate its use. It has asked Reciproque to conduct an audit of the existing offering, with a detailed analysis of the needs of its visitors, and to propose an ambitious project to promote synergy and the use of a new generation of autonomous multimedia tour aids that are marketable to audiences at a suitable rate.
The objective of this study is to knock down the barriers blocking access to cultural content; to propose a new service capable of piquing, and keeping, the interest of a new audience; to provide reliable rental equipment and modernize its performance; and to create an attractive commercial offer.
The one-year study focused on the legal, technical, organizational, marketing and commercial aspects with the aim of launching the transformation of the Musée de l'Armée’s embedded mediation offering as of June 2019.
