In Greater Paris, La Contemporaine (formerly the BDIC) is a genuine part of our historical memory of the 20th and 21st centuries. Created in 1918 in an effort to understand the causes of the First World War, its goal from the beginning was to collect all the materials and traces of events that may help interpret and write the history of our time.

In order to construct a new building and relocate a portion of its collections preserved in Nanterre, EPAURIF (Établissement Public d'Aménagement Universitaire de la Région Ile-de-France) wanted to establish a general strategy for accessing the collections and online publications.

La Contemporaine decided to create a permanent exhibition space to showcase to the public an exceptional heritage of higher education focusing on contemporary history and international relations.

Reciproque provided support to AP’Culture on the multimedia and digital portion being assessed under the museographic and scenographic programming study on the creation of the La Contemporaine permanent exhibition. The building was completed in late 2017, one hundred years after it was founded.
