Project and operations management of the multimedia information system during the construction of the Musée du quai Branly.

The Musée du quai Branly is a unique place to discover and connect with the works, objects, tangible and intangible cultural heritage of non-Western peoples and civilisations. While the museum was being built, state-of-the-art multimedia systems were installed throughout all of the exhibition spaces, offering visitors different levels of discovery and commentary. Multimedia is used here as a new audiovisual approach to supporting the museum’s artistic and scientific objectives.

Since the museum opened, multimedia has been an important part of its strategy for cultural interpretation, in a bid to respond to visitor expectations. It represents a truly innovative example of how new technologies can be adapted to serve exhibit design. All in all, there are 138 audiovisual programmes; this includes around 10 hours of film and 20 multimedia installations made up of 2,039 audiovisual files (80% archives from the museum or from international collections, and 20% original).
